Abstract: With growing evidence of both short- and long-term detrimental effects of corporal punishment on children, efforts to end corporal punishment are working. However, evidence also suggests that the ongoing incidence of corporal punishment varies across intersectional strata. To more fully understand the variation in attitudes toward corporal punishment across subcultures, a 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 factorial vignette design was used to examine (a) whether active duty military personnel, the general population, and college students differ in their attitudes about the acceptability of corporal punishment; (b) variations in attitudes according to ethnic differences after naturally controlling for socioeconomic disparity in the all-volunteer active duty military sample; and (c) whether respondent age, sex, parental status, or education predict varying attitudes toward the use of corporal punishment. Substantially more military respondents (73.6%) than the general population (42.8%) and college student (40.1%) respondents indicated the use of corporal punishment was appropriate in the vignette scenario. Similarly, if faced with the same set of circumstances, 52.4% of military respondents indicated they would spank their own child, compared to 28.7% among the general population, and 34.2% among college students. Respondents’ rationales for their responses, implications of these findings, and future directions are discussed.

Abstract: Shadow education has been a popular topic among students in Hong Kong, since a lot of them have extra classes after school. Research has shown that shadow education is subordinated to mainstream schools, and it can provide a more supportive role to students who are in-need. In these days, scholars focused on discussing the impact that shadow education had on students, and students, teachers and parents’ point of views. However, there is hardly any research about the teaching methods inside shadow education. This is a very important topic, since teaching methods will affect the effectiveness of student’s learning. As a result, for this research, the main focus is on shadow education teaching method. The use of task cycle is also being used in this research, since studies showed that it can improve the student’s learning abilities. By using an organized teaching method in shadow education, this may improve the quality of shadow education. Moreover, this can open an area for more research to investigate the teaching methods in shadow education. Both qualitative and quantitative findings were used to explain the effectiveness of task cycle in a supplementary lesson, and students were able to express their opinions towards different teaching methods that were used for their supplementary lessons.

Abstract: Based on the characteristics of probability theory and mathematical statistics, this paper analyzes the problems existing in the traditional teaching mode of this course, such as teachers being tired of teaching knowledge and students lacking interest and motivation in learning. Combining the characteristics of MOOC, SPOC and flipped classroom, this paper puts forward the blended teaching mode, in which MOOC + SPOC is the teaching resource and the flipped classroom is the teaching method, and introduces in detail the concrete implementation process of this teaching mode, the implementation process can be divided into four parts: preparation before class, internalization in class, consolidation after class, evaluation and feedback. The practice shows that the blended teaching mode of MOOC + SPOC + Flip classroom can improve the teaching quality of probability theory and mathematical statistics better than the traditional teaching mode, and train the students’ ability to analyze and solve problems with the knowledge they have learned. The blended teaching mode has played an active role in promoting the realization of the goal of talent training in colleges and universities, and also provided reference for the teaching reform of other courses in colleges and universities.

Abstract: China has entered a critical period of reform and development and contemporary college students will become an important driving force. Under such circumstances, it is of great significance to consolidate their political institutional identity for maintaining political stability and promoting social progress. Based on the survey data of colleges and universities in central China, this paper, using ordinal logistic regression analysis model (ologit model), scientifically analyzes and accurately identifies the factors influencing the political institutional identity of college students. The empirical results show that, as far as the institution itself is concerned, its fairness, representation and performance have a positive and systematic on institutional identity. In terms of external factors, the cultivation of individual values has a significant positive impact on institutional identity, while multi-culture will lead to the deviation in institutional identity. On this basis, this paper puts forward some suggestions to promote the political institutional identity of college students from the aspects of institutional arrangement, ideological education and social environment.

Abstract: The exercises about heroes and revolutionary leaders for the didactic software Let´s Play (A Jugar), came into being as a need to practice the contents in the subject The Field of Knowledge of the Social World, especially those which have to do with heroic revolutionary leaders included in the syllabus of the subject for the fourth stage in Kindergarten, since they allow young children to be in close contact with our patriotic symbols, heroes and revolutionary leaders. However, this didactic software does not fully permit to fulfill this social role. Therefore, the main objective of the current paper is to design activities focused on this topic so as to complement the impact of the software Let´s Play on the preschoolers’ learning, as well as the formation of their moral qualities and value system based on the example of outstanding national historical personalities. The literature review allowed us to organize the limited bibliography scattered in newspaper articles, magazines and other sources so as to design a set of 27 exercises with complementing images and songs which were validated through the opinion of seven experts and the four preschool teachers who implemented them in their classes. The trial test given to a sample of 20 male and female preschoolers of “Juliana Montano” Nursery Home after the implementation of the proposal, revealed that 19 children, that is 95%, were able to put into practice the knowledge related to the contents treated, through observation and direct contact with the environment in a spontaneous way; serving as a basis in the formation of feelings and positive motives as well. The results show that these activities allow young children from Kindergarten to practice and apply their knowledge on this area; at the same time, they constitute an integrated source for the educators´ previous preparation as well as an invaluable tool in the hands of software designers and programmers.

Abstract: Organizing teaching activities with project-based learning strategy can give full play to students' initiative and cultivate their independent inquiry ability, which is of great significance to the cultivation of innovative talents. Aiming at the problems of classroom silence, insufficient learning motivation and poor self-efficacy, which are easy to appear in the traditional teaching process of information technology, based on the paradigm of empirical research, this study explores the effective way of organizing project-based learning in high school information technology curriculum, and focuses on the project-oriented task design strategy. The study selected three classes from senior one of a high school to carry out the experiment. Among them, class 12 of senior one is used as the experimental class and classes 13 and 14 of senior one are used as the control class. On the basis of the traditional teaching of combining teaching with practice, the task driven method is used to carry out the teaching. It emphasizes the project selection and task decomposition strategy facing the teaching objectives, constructs a progressive learning and practice situation for students through a series of case-based and systematic tasks, and organizes teaching practice activities based on these tasks. On the basis of a series of teaching practice activities, through the data of academic achievement, learning interest and attitude and sense of self-efficacy, this study demonstrates that project-based learning which is based on task-driven method can indeed encourage students to better participate in learning activities, has obvious effects on the improvement of work quality and learning achievement, and can improve students' learning interest and sense of self-efficacy.

Abstract: Bilingual education for the deaf is always necessary. This text discusses sign languages since antiquity, passing through researchers in different times and countries. The recognition of deaf cultural and historical heritage contributes to the formation of deaf identities. Is it possible to say that Berthier and Bébian, French teachers of the 19th century, contributed to sign languages becoming an identity mark? What was the work performed by Huet in Brazil and Le Clerc in the United States? Moreover, why are French, Brazilian, and American sign languages similar? This article aims to disclose the actions that preceded William C. Stokoe in the construction of sign languages such as the work perpetrated by Berthier, who was deaf, and Bébian, first hearing teacher at the Institute of Deaf-Mute in Paris, who was bilingual, giving classes in sign language, at that time called mimicry. Historical research will be the method to achieve this goal. The work of Bébian Mimographie or Essai d’écriture mimique, propre a régulariser le langue des sourds-muets (1825) will be analyzed. It was the first attempt to graphically register sign language. Psychologists and philosophers, by the end of 19th century and beginning of the 20th century, analyzed the evolution of the term, from mimicry to polyglossy, and, finally, sign language. Some plates of Bebian’s Mimography will be shown and analyzed in this paper, concluding to emphasize that French sign language had a proper grammar, differing from spoken French. Recognizing the efforts of these researchers as forerunners of the fundamentals of sign languages enhances Stokoe’s linguistic research.

Abstract: As the number of international students increased, liberal arts classes at local universities for their own people were reorganized. In particular, the role and importance of liberal arts Korean language has been expanded as a foundation for students to improve their Korean language skills and acquire knowledge of their majors. In order to come up with a level-based education plan that considers learners' academic abilities in various ways, the professor in charge of liberal arts first worked to list reading materials that can stimulate learners' interest and to step up the writing process so that students could complete their writing. Most important of all, it is that students find the topic of writing on their own and solve the problem of writing on their own. For this purpose, he noted finding various writing topics related to the multinational experience of overseas Korean students. It also created and provided various notices to help students carry out their assignments. These guides were used as reference books for students to easily understand the theory of writing. This writing assignment was completed with team speaking activities (comrade correction) and professors' correction. The professor was a guide to learning, and had the students perform complete and convergent tasks. In doing this task, students can develop a sense of cooperation in solving writing problems, along with an active attitude in selecting topics on their own.

Abstract: During the years 2020 and 2021, in practically all the universities in the world, face-to-face school activities were suspended, causing a great negative impact in those disciplines where practical practices of an experimental nature or carrying out field work are essential. With the intention of bringing first-time students to the biology degree at UNAM-Iztacala, an experimental exercise was designed, applied and evaluated, with true data that came from an exploration of numerical skills shown by the same students, practice that was done online. Being an experiment, linked to mathematics education and given the pandemic situation that is still in force, an attempt was made to extend with due epistemological prudence, the behavior of the results of the numerical ability observed in these students, with some indicators on the way in which the immunization of human communities with respect to the COVID-19 pandemic is presumably being achieved. Recognizing the notorious difference between the domains of a presumed “numerical sufficiency” on the part of the examined students and that which concerns a presumable “immunization” in a hypothetical population, the exercise did allow to make some analogies, between the predictions of results that can be expected and what is observed in an experimental trial.

Abstract: Against the background of the Centennial of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party, Lei Feng is a role model to follow. In Chinese moral education textbooks, Lei Feng is an indispensable moral example. Studying the image of Lei Feng in moral education textbooks helps to promote the moral development of students and strengthen the study of party history. The textual analysis on Lei Feng image in the 5 sets of primary school-oriented moral education textbooks by People’s Education Press suggests the following findings. In terms of the external form, the trends include the gradually decreasing class hours to portray Lei Feng image, the increasingly simple way of presentation, and gradually simplified descriptive words. In terms of the internal connotation, Lei Feng image has transited from the political field to the educational field, from the political attributes to the life attributes, from a screen hero to a citizen in daily life, and from the ideal and belief to the self-cultivation example with good deeds. Therefore, while keeping pace with the time, the compilation of Chinese moral education textbooks should continuously promote the inclusion of Lei Feng spirit, and adopt a graphics-text combination mode to depict Lei Feng image truly on the basis of substantial literatures, so as to strengthen Lei Feng image in the textbooks and highlight the value of Lei Feng spirit in contemporary moral education.
