Abstract: Highly globalized society in modern society makes English extraordinarily important. Taiwan is evitable affected by this trend; especially many of its economic and educational activities are linked to the United States. To explore how student can improve their English skill that is of higher priority in future career succeed, this study adopts a multivariate regression analysis to evaluate important factors with potential significant influences. The result could be useful to teachers in class teaching by measuring the influences of crucial factors quantitatively and thus, teachers could focus on the factors affecting the most and strength the English ability of students. The data is randomly selected from the university record and the result shows that the data fits the model well. The statistical result indicates that gender, outside-reading, study hours and interest in watching English movies affect the average term English score significantly. However, effect from most of variables is only one time shock and cannot be accumulated; only the study hours is positively related to the average term score with the diminishing return to scale but accumulative effects, implying that the variable of study hour could be the most important factor affecting the average term English score of students. Therefore, based on the regression result, the best strategy of students trying to enhance term English score is to allocate their study hours reasonably while other methods such as reading English novels and soap opera should be used as supplementary.

Abstract: In this article our central argument is that we should be promoting creative education and that this is a necessity, not an option. How creative education is applied by and to different individuals, groups of people, in different communities, institutions and societies, historically and culturally, is dependent on how the term ‘creativity’ is grounded, politicised, and practised. We are told that we need new thinking in the current world crises of economics and global environmental concerns. We are also told that in education, a new critically reflexive form of creativity is in order to address the task of the age of reconciling the need for a stable, safe, ethical and empathetic world within which a productive, adaptive and innovative workforce can operate. In this article we make a case and provide evidence from several projects for how artists-in-residence transform higher education and provide teachers and learners an excellent resource for exploring a creative paradigm to guide pedagogic practices.

Abstract: There are various ways to assess students, but what differs is the validity of assessment and its impact on students’ life-long learning. This study will discuss the way assessment were applied in the past (traditional assessment) and the negative effect it exerts on students. In addition to that, the study aims to prove the worth of authentic assessment, specially the game-assessment, and its importance on students’ learning and performance since it improves intellectual and cognitive development that 21st century students need. Moreover, students achieve better results in playing a game since it reduces anxiety and engages them in the learning process.

Abstract: This study was aimed at identifying the attitudes of the students of Khalifa University towards mathematics .The sample of this study consisted of 88(out of 216) students distributed evenly according to gender. 56.9% of the sample were Emiraties and 53.1% were expatriates. The Attitude Towards Mathematics Inventory (ATMI) was implemented in collecting the data. The results of this study indicated that there were slight statistically significant differences between students’ attitudes towards mathematics and mathematics achievement scores, age, the course they are attending, students’ high school type, gender and their academic level. Additionally, the results indicated that there were statistically significant differences between self-confidence, enjoyment and value with and students’ nationalities. Expatriates students showed higher positive attitudes towards mathematics than the Emirati students. Also, the results showed that there was a slight statistical relationship between enjoyment and students’ academic level. Finally, this study revealed that 62.67% of the sample have self-confidence in dealing with mathematics, 84.4% felt that mathematics has a great value to them, and 75.49% showed enjoyment in dealing with mathematics.

Abstract: This paper investigates the impact of Internet Self-Efficacy on the process writing performance of EFL learners in two online environment—wiki and email. Forty male and female sophomores and juniors who were sitting a course on process writing participated in this study. The participants were randomly assigned to the wiki and email modules. The teacher required the wiki participants to write and post about given topics on the wiki and as for the email module the participants had to send their writing samples through email. In both modules, the participants were given feedback by the teacher in the email module and by the teacher and peers in the wiki. Each session each writing sample was rated by a writing process rating scale (Maftoon & Akef, 2010). Meanwhile, an Internet Self-Efficacy Measure was also administered to both groups. Results indicated that there were positive and significant correlations between the stages of process writing and Internet self-efficacy. Discussions, suggestions, and implications for research and practice are proposed.
