Abstract: The present study details a theoretical-conceptual model, scoping the interrelations between antecedents (academic buoyancy, emotional and physiological states, task value), cognitive processes (habitual action, critical reflection), and adaptive outcomes (academic engagement, academic achievement) in the context of educational psychology. 294 (151 men, 143 women) first-year university students participated in this study. Likert-scale inventories were administered to students and used to elicit relevant data; for example, we used the Academic Buoyancy Scale [1, 2], and the Task value subscale of the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ)[3]. Academic achievement was collated from students’ overall marks in the unit educational psychology. Structural equation modeling (SEM) analyses supported, in part, the conceptual model with some statistical significant paths. In general, on the basis of the findings yielded, there are significant implications for research development and educational practices.

Abstract: A teacher who knows her class well, would know whether the material or text would be readily absorbed or that the text or material needs some modifications done to it. A teacher may take some vocabulary words out to bring more focus where explanation of the meaning of each word is concerned. A teacher may feel that the font on the material or text should be enlarged for easier reading. A teacher may want to model ways of taking notes to help students look into revising a lesson. All the changes are made to enable students to absorb, understand, apply, retain and recall the new information when needed. Text adaptation is enabling students to focus only on the extracted essential information from the text. In essence, the literary text or materials are developed to enable text adaptation.

Abstract: Sakai is an online collaboration and learning environment, which is used by worldwide education institutes, especially for the universities and colleges. Compared with foreign countries, the current level of development and application of Sakai system in China is not mature and extensive. More correlative study and practical applications on Sakai are needed. Sakai is used by some selected teachers and curriculums of Henan Polytechnic University in the first term of 2013 on trial. And in 2014, Sakai is conducted a comprehensive promotion in the whole University. Discussions of the application of Sakai in the University are included in the paper. The implement process of Sakai in the University is presented first. Then some experience and advices on the application of Sakai on university of science and engineering in China are discussed.

Abstract: The Laboratory-Based Education (LBE) model has been implemented by the majority of universities in Japan and has been proved to generate research, patents, and publications both nationally and internationally. Another indicator of success in Japanese LBE is seen in the independent research skills of the students. Data collected through this study shows that the Indonesian university under study (referred to as the ‘research object’), still experiences a number of problems commonly faced by higher education in Indonesia; for instance, the low number of students who graduate on time, and the lack of research and research publications. These issues can be a barrier to achieving world class recognition and also influence the accreditation of the institution. This paper presents a revised layout of the environment in the research object which it is believed will help in the implementation of LBE. Changing the layout of laboratories to support LBE can accommodate the needs of final year students and assist them to focus on their final project. Benefits for academics include increased opportunities to generate publications and patents from projects with their students.

Abstract: This study examines the effect of open source-based virtual laboratory module on students’ understanding of electronic industry concept. Module had previously built through the process research and development. A pre-test and post-test quasi-experimental design was used. Participants in the study were 68 students of vocational high school (36 in the experimental group and 32 in the control group). While the experimental group students were studying the concept of electronic industry, the same instruction was carried out with practical guide with the control group students. A 15 multiple choice concept of electronic industry achievement test and a 15 open ended item learning levels of electronic industry concept test were used as pre-test and post-test. The result of covariance analysis showed that the experimental group out performed the control group not only in academic achievement but also in levels of learning electronic industry of concept.

This study aims to emphasize the importance of re- structuring of university education programs to enhance university curricula and keep pace with developments perceived by third world countries that cope with the global challenges for the era of globalization in the field of higher education and scientific institutions and give them the ability and efficiency to compete in the rehabilitation and development of graduates and researchers. This research is based on the written literature in this field, as well as relevant statistical analysis in order to get to a confined strategy for the development of the third world higher education in all stages, and is linked to the global developments as well. Researchers found that world developments and global changes being brought about by recent world technological and the modern means of telecommunications requires that developing countries have to strive and to develop their traditional university systems to cope with the new market demands. Third world higher education centers need to follow the modern university systems and modern application of educational technology, such as E-learning and distance education so as to produce university graduates who are qualified to work and compete with their rivals in the developed countries through acquiring the most modified skills and international experiences. The main aim of this study is to focus on the realities of third world higher education and research, and how to be able to face all the challenges and prospects of the twenty-first century in order to cope with the international developments and innovations. In this paper, researchers have concluded that the quality of university education and scientific research in developing countries are affected by many factors commensurate to commercialization, GDPs, B Ops, and population growth. Abstract: In China’s higher education, the unfairly formulated ways of evaluation underscore an urgent need for innovations in academic evaluation. The unfair ways, focusing on privileged publications and relying on a few judges, make it difficult for scholars to publish their academic achievements in privileged publications. Thus unpublished ones should be regarded as a part of their academic achievement. Peer reviewers and committee members are the only judges, who cannot guarantee fairness in their evaluation of manuscripts. But those people who expect intellectual benefit from scholars are most likely to be serious in judging the academic value of the scholars’ achievements. Therefore college students should be treated as the judges of scholars’ academic achievements. It would be a good measure to take against the process of commercialization in China’s higher education if we could uncage the issue of academic evaluation from the issue of publication. Also, it would be good for both college students and teachers if we invited college students to take part in academic evaluations.
