Abstract: Blended learning, as a new and multi-dimensional teaching mode, integrates the offline teaching in the traditional classroom with online teaching of the Internet. With the development of Internet, blended learning has become the mainstream of current information-based teaching. This teaching mode combines task-based teaching with autonomous learning which helps the students learn before teaching, improve students’ critical thinking ability and comprehensive language ability, promote the quality of English teaching and cultivate students’ core literacy in English learning. With the reform of college English, it is feasible to apply blended learning in College English teaching. However, the current College English teaching mode is still teacher-centered and the students’ dominant position cannot be well reflected. In addition, due to the limitations of offline English teaching, it is hardly to meet all the students’ need for English learning, thus resulting in low class participation, insuffiient learning motivation and poor learning effects, etc. In order to solve the problems in the traditional classroom English teaching, the online and offline blended teaching mode in College English Reading Teaching is proposed. This paper discusses the advantages, disadvantages and contents of online and offline blended teaching mode and futher explores the strategies of applying online and offline blended teaching mode in College English Reading Teaching. This study is aimed at changing college English teachers’ teaching concepts, enhancing students’ motivation in English learning, improving teaching quality and giving full play to educational functions. Of course, although online and offline blended teaching has many advantages, the significance of traditional classroom learning cannot be ignored. Without the effective guidance of teachers, it is difficult for students to learn knowledge scientifically and systematically. Therefore, it is necessary to apply blended teaching mode and combine the online teaching with offline teaching, and only in this way can the best teaching effects be achieved.

Abstract: An increasing attention has been paid to children's education with the development of social economy. In recent years, the fierce social competition forces parents’ concentration on their children's academic achievements. Homework is a pivotal tool in fostering student learning, however, varying parental involvement approaches in the context of homework have demonstrated a spectrum of impacts. This study delves into an in-depth exploration of four modes of parental engagement, i e., autonomy support, control, interference, and cognitive engagement, within the realm of children's homework, while investigating their effects on academic achievement. In addition, we scrutinize how parental involvement manifests differently across different grade levels, revealing nuances in its influence throughout distinct developmental stages. Results underscore that the types of parental involvement in children’s homework are not suitable for each child or different periods of the same child, and it need dynamic adjustments. Specifically, autonomy support stands out as the most beneficial parental engagement method, facilitating problem-solving skills, nurturing parent-school communication, and fostering self-confidence and academic accomplishments in children. Notably, as grade levels progress, there's a need to adapt parental involvement strategies to prevent excessive intervention. The conclusions of this paper offer valuable information to families, schools, and policymakers, empowering them to craft targeted educational policies and practical strategies that foster holistic child development.

Abstract: Cooperative learning is widely recognized as a teaching strategy that promotes learning and socialization. In contrast to the traditional classroom, the teacher in a cooperative learning setting is no longer the director of instruction but the facilitator of learning. The students are responsible for their own learning while the teacher models strategies and provides scaffolding to support students’ thinking until they are ready to learn and work on their own This paper, on the basis of the theories and researches that have been done on cooperative learning, will have an overview of this field with emphasis on two cooperative learning approaches----Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD), Teams-Games-Tournaments (TGT). These techniques are successful in the perspective of motivation in the classroom. In addition, the issues involved in each method and the teaching implications were discussed. For instance, the problems classroom teachers may face when using these methods and the possible solutions to such problems. Finally, an attempt is made to explore some unresolved issues in cooperative learning. This paper concludes that cooperative learning has the potential to become a primary teaching approach to achieving various goals. However, there is a need for more research on the conditions necessary for success in cooperative learning.

Abstract: One of the most difficult mathematical subjects to learn and teach today is the subject of probability. The review of the existing literature on the subject of teaching probability reveals that students struggle with several aspects of probability. One of the key findings of these studies is that challenges with teaching probability are faced not just by students, but also by prospective teachers and even teachers. Knowing prospective mathematics teachers' views on probability teachings, particularly the challenges they encounter, will be the first step in educating teachers who are well-equipped in probability. This study therefore aims to reveal the views of prospective mathematics teachers on probability subjects. The present study aims to reveal the views of prospective mathematics teachers on probability lessons. The study group consisted of 32 senior-year prospective teachers in the Elementary Mathematics Teacher Education Program of a state university in Türkiye. The participants were selected using the purposive sampling technique due to their enrollment in probability and statistics lessons at the university, which aligns with the study objectives. An open-ended questionnaire prepared by the researcher in line with expert opinions was used as a data collection tool. The data were analyzed by content analysis, one of the qualitative data analysis techniques. The data obtained from the documents in which prospective teachers answered the questions in writing were categorized under six categories: experience, lack of knowledge, difficulty of the subject, indifference of students, its impact on the profession, and solution suggestions. The findings of the study revealed that the prospective teachers continued the prejudices they had acquired during their primary and secondary education years at the university. Furthermore, they reported that these prejudices persisted even after they entered the profession. Since these prejudices of prospective teachers have negative effects on probability learning and teaching, probability lessons should be meticulously emphasized in teacher training. The fact that they limited probability to basic concepts, had taken a course on teaching probability and statistics, and did not mention these practices in written documents even though they could offer alternative solutions to the problems faced demonstrated that their prejudices were more dominant.

Abstract: This study examined EFL teachers’ cognitions and practices of grammar teaching in Niger. The purpose of the study was to understand the beliefs held by EFL teachers about grammar teaching and the extent to which they put those beliefs into practice. The study also proposed to understand the contextual factors that affect those beliefs and classroom practices. The study was designed based on a qualitative multiple-case study framework, and four EFL teachers from four different schools constituted the main cases. Data were collected and triangulated through pre-observation interviews, classroom observations, and post-observation interviews. These procedures were implemented in a way the first led to the second, and the latter to the last. Afterward, thematic analysis procedures were used to generate understanding from the data. Findings revealed that most of the teachers consider grammar as an important pillar in teaching English. Most importantly, the study demonstrated the predominance of deductive approaches, mainly through the use of Grammar Translation in almost all the classes observed. It also highlighted compliance and mismatches between teachers’ beliefs and the way they teach grammar. Moreover, insights are indicative of multiple factors that affect teachers’ beliefs and practices. Those factors include students’ low proficiency, negative attitudes toward learning English, large classes, curricular requirements, and teachers’ previous learning experiences. These findings confirm the need for teacher education programs and systems to work towards monitoring teachers’ beliefs and knowledge in order to ensure compliance with the communicative approaches required by the national curriculum.
