Abstract: This study investigates the status quo of Teachers’ Informationized Teaching Ability in a junior middle school in Shanghai. It adopts the instruments of questionnaires and interviews. Based on the data collected in the research, the results are as followed: (1) Teachers in this school have a positive attitude towards application of information technology into the curriculum and keep up with the tide of educational informationization in China; (2) The concept of being student-centered is emphasized in the use of teaching and learning resources and the rate of redevelopment of online resources increases a lot and timely feedback is highlighted in the information management mode; (3) Teachers’ Informationized Teaching Ability to deal with problems in teaching practice and research varies a lot. Faced with the dynamic changes in current educational situation, teaching practice in this school is rewarding. However, there exist some problems which need to be worked out. Therefore, it is suggested that the overall improvements of teachers’ Informationized Teaching Ability must combine study of theory on IT-based education with regular training on teaching practice; Secondly, learning community must be established to focus on the curriculum design, the characteristics of e-learning space and the cognitive and emotional features of the students so as to guide the students’ autonomous learning more scientifically; Thirdly, action research can be conducted to help teachers reflect on their own teaching experiences in the forms of teaching reflection notes and share with each other and then in turn better their own teaching continuously.

Abstract: Universal Design for Learning (UDL) has gained significant momentum in Higher Education (HE) over the last decade in North America. It offers considerable potential to achieve the inclusion of diverse students in the HE classroom. It is a unique approach, first because it shifts the instructor mindset away from medical model practices, and second because it allows the development of inclusive practices that address the needs of the full spectrum of diverse learners. As a result of this growing interest, there have been implementation efforts within a wide range of disciplines and settings in post-secondary education. The time has come, however, to identify the challenges that remain, to seek appropriate solutions, and to develop strategic direction to shape UDL adoption for the next decade. This paper draws on phenomenological data collected by the author on his own practice through a process of auto-ethnography. This data emerges from three dimensions of the author’s practice: his past role as manager of an accessibility unit, as well as his current role as UDL consultant within HE, and faculty member exploring UDL in his own teaching. The chapter identifies remaining challenges, explores solutions, and frames a vision for what UDL development might look like in HE over the next decade.

Abstract: The world constant change calls for a more rapid growth in the intellectual and emotional aspect of every individual. English, as a global language requires most of the learners to be more acquainted with the utilization of English language. This paper focused on the use of Communicative Approach in Teaching Afro-Asian Literature and the performance of Grade 8 students. The study tested the acceptability of the instructional module in terms of its content, relevance and instructional quality that turns out to be highly acceptable. The researchers used experimental method of research to the 68 participants who were randomly selected from the Grade 8 students of Telafas National High School and were grouped into experimental and control groups. Findings revealed that students from the control group performed poor in their pre-test and fair in their post-test, while the experimental group performed poor in the pre-test and their performance turned into outstanding after the integration of Communicative Approach. These results were further analyzed with the use of t-test; it statistically showed that there is a significant difference between the mean gain score of the control and experimental group which revealed that the experimental group improved better and learned much on the use of communicative approach than the control group.

This study aims to analyze the discourse of science education, including the contents, integration forms, meaning construction, relation between image and text by using qualitative methods and investigate the attitude of teachers towards science education in Chinese English textbooks of senior high school by using quantitative methods from the perspective of multimodality based on textbook evaluation theory, visual grammar, and relation theory of image and text. A total of 228 teachers from five different Chinese cities as Anyang, Luoyang, Luohe, Xuchang were investigated. The conclusion are: (1) it should pay attention to increase cognition education of science and technology frontier, design the content of science education more scientifically; (2) it should pay attention to use multimodality to strengthen science education rather than single modal; (3) it should adopt the presentation forms of multimodality which teachers and students prefer and easy to accept in order to improve the teaching effect and guidance of science education in senior high school.

Abstract: The need for a more highly educated nursing workforce has been well established. The need for BSN-prepared nurses continues to escalate and more registered nurse to bachelor of science in nursing (RN to BSN) programs are approved in Washington State every year. RN to BSN completion programs provide an efficient bridge for diploma and associate degree (ADN) nurses to progress academically and advance their careers. This multi-method, descriptive study was designed to identify common elements and promising practices for curricular and program design across seven of the nine RN to BSN programs in the state of Washington. Program directors compiled institutional data and a confidential online survey was sent to faculty who were teaching in each program. The University of Washington School of Social Work Survey Research Division (SRD) was contracted to administer the online surveys. SPSS was utilized for quantitative data analysis, while the investigative team used standard content analysis techniques for the qualitative items. Sixty-two of the 82 faculty surveys were returned (75.6%) and all seven programs provided extensive institutional data. This report explains mainly the faculty responses, while noting areas for immediate improvement including the statewide failure to gather important student demographic data like race and ethnicity. Given the wide diversity of this student population, and the profession’s drive to diversify the workforce, failure to carefully monitor these data needs action. Characteristics of the wide range in student readiness for BSN-level coursework and rigors of work/life balance, along with the dynamic nature of RN to BSN education, were consistently brought forward by faculty, independent of years of teaching experience.
