Abstract: The paper exposes the non-neutrality of modern technologies in general and communication and information technologies in particular by focusing on the biases and discriminations that are built-in or embedded in the designs and operation systems of technological artefacts of now a days. The central argument of this paper is that modern technologies are shaping and controlling our life on daily basis often unknown to us, though they appear neutral objects at first glance. The current controversial status of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and human thinking is another main theme of the paper in which it is clearly and strongly argued that it is not worth living to delegate the works of our mind to AI or thinking machines, though there is a tendency of co-acting and sharing the most important distinctive feature/character (creative thinking) of human beings among thinking machines and human beings. Here, arises the need for democratizing and transforming the mainstream of design, operation and decision making in the realm of modern technologies, which in turn requires a thorough critical evaluation and philosophical enquiry into the design and operation of modern technological artefacts.

Abstract: Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of six weeks strength training interventions on speed performance of sprinters. Furthermore, the purpose was to compare the effects of strength training on some anthropometry of sprinters among University sport science students. Methods: To achieve the purpose of the study, six male student athletes were selected as subjects purposively. The study was formulated as experimental (pre and post-test) study design. All Selected subjects participated on proposed exercises training program for six consecutive weeks, with four days per week for a total of thirty two training sessions. The outcome variables were measurement of calf, thigh, chest, biceps and triceps circumference and 100m and 200m speed. The data were analyzed using paired t-test with comparison of means at 95% confidence intervals. Results: The results indicated there were significant improvement on selected variables weight, biceps and triceps muscle circumference and speed of 100m and 200m (p< 0.05). In other variables like calf, thigh, and chest had a change but significant differences were not observed. The mean differences (MD) between pre and post tests for weight were 1.4, biceps triceps 2.5, chest 0.5 thigh 0.833, calf 0.5 and speed of 100m 0.143, 200m 0.6. Conclusion: This study confirmed that strength training has an impact on speed and anthropometry. The study showed that student athletes who were exposed to six weeks strength exercise training have positive outcomes on speed.

An estimated 1.8 million newly infected with HIV in 2016-about 5,000 new infections per day 160,000 children (<15 years). Most of these children live in sub-Saharan Africa. In Ethiopia, it is illegal to operate a brothel or procure sex workers as a commercial activity, but the sale of sex by women is not prohibited by law. The objective of this study was to assess condom utilization and associated factors among female sex workers in Bahir Dar city administration Northwestern Ethiopia. Community based cross sectional study triangulated with qualitative in-depth interview was conducted to determine condom utilization among 307 female sex workers in Bahir Dar city in February 2019 by using Face-to-face interview for quantitative and In-depth interview for qualitative part. Data was entered in to Epi-Info version 7 then, exported to SPSS version 23 for cleaning and analysis. Binary logistic regression analysis was used to determine the association between condom utilization and its associated factors. Then multivariable logistic regression model was employed to identify statistically significant variables for condom utilization (with 95% confidence interval and p<0.05) for qualitative part till all questions answered and discussed with quantitative study. Condom utilization of Bahir Dar city commercial sex workers for the last one week was 170 (56.3%) with a (95% CI: 50.3-62.3%). Those Respondents having negative Human Immune Virus result (AOR: 4.77, 95% CI: 1.14, 20.102), having perceived social support (AOR: 3.84 95%CI 1.326, 11.155). Literate (AOR: 12.95, 95% CI: 5.22, 32.09) and those does not use drug (AOR: 5.94% CI: 2.6, 13.55) were significantly associated with condom utilization. The qualitative study shows that sex worker perform sex without condom due to money. The current condom utilization among Bahir Dar city administration commercial sex workers is lower by considering their exposure to sexually transmitted infections so working by creating awareness about the severity of HIV infection and side effects of drug use and creating other job opportunity is more helpful.
