Abstract: The article explores the gallery of female characters in the social architecture by Serhiy Zhadan, represented both in his poetry and prose. It has been identified that the philosophic category of a ‘human being’ is an entity, specified through the range of subcategories: “an adult”, “a child”, “a boy”, “a girl”, “a man”, “a woman”, “an old man”, “an old woman”. Two distinct starts – ‘the man” and the “woman” – and their sociocultural roles in the printed matter by Serhiy Zhadan have been identified and analyzed. It has been proved that the texts by the author are invariably marked by the presence of a gallery of women appearing as a moment in the destiny of the man and serving as an explicit sexual object. The prevailing social roles of the woman within the body of writings from 2008 up to 2019 are the following: a hooker, somebody’s girlfriend desired either by a protagonist or by the lyrical hero, an older woman of experience, an explicit sexual object, a drunk fast woman, women as the source of problems and men’s failures, an under-age looking adult. The components of the female image comprise the manner of dress, hair, make-up, accessories, shoes, perfumes, weight. The oxymoron embodied in the triad “women-church-alcohol” or “priest-women-laughter” takes place. The uncovered wintry nature is associated with the female nudity. The author’s texts sometimes fall into Boccaccio’s mockery and Chaucerian ridicule of religion. Within the European chronotope prostitution and pornography are depicted as a rudiment of the past and is viewed as a profession type, whereas in the Ukrainian context it is portrayed as an inseparable part of the home sociography. Throughout the analyzed poetry and prose it is impossible to find a single image of a respectable woman. Social text by Serghiy Zhadan brings the mixture of characters from the combined epochs – the Soviet times, the 1990s, the present. The author ridicules social extremes and the confusion of the social architecture produced by the rapid change of the epochs: Perestroika, the dark criminal 90s, the noughties.

Abstract: For the last 8 years Burkina Faso has faced severe armed terrorist groups attacks in many parts of the country. Many citizens, particularly from villages in the northern region, are moving away from their farms and other economic assets in order to save their lives in the neighborhood cities. Thus, the displacement of these populations mainly women and children lead them to sick asylum making them extremely vulnerable. Such situation calls for attention and raised the question of their humanitarian care. As such, this paper aims to shed light on the type of mechanisms of resilience capacity building initiatives that have been used in Barsalogho to ensure the survival of the Internal Displaced Populations (IDPs). Based on their age and gender the study evaluates the empowerment initiatives developed by and for these vulnerable people. This research uses an indebt qualitative method with a total of 34 interviews and 40 households ‘observation. The results indicate that the populations facing eviction following attacks refuse to resign themselves to idleness and are most of the time trying to reconvert themselves to any activity to preserve their human dignity. As such, they are developing means of resilience such as trading, farming, livestock which unfortunately up to now are not sufficient. Humanitarian aid need not only to provide them with food and clothing but to integrate existing initiatives in order to better empower the population.

Abstract: The world is witnessing tremendous and rapid technological development, making modern technology indispensable in life. The infusion of technologies into the educational practice has significantly improved and modernised established educational systems. The quest to ascertain whether the infusion is a necessity is considered. This paper, therefore, sought to review whether developing HEI needs to infuse technology in learning and teaching. Thus, the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework will be adopted to support and strengthen this review paper. TPACK was adopted for this article because of the need to enhance content knowledge. The framework is a recommendation for 21st-century learning to develop technological and digital literacy. Learning is directed at technology utilisation to increase the effectiveness and quality of education. This contributed to the successful infusion of technology with content. The theoretical framework for this study and materials were sourced from journals, websites, and other academic materials. The present study also explores the policy, benefits, and barriers involved in the infusion of technologies in developing HEIs. A systematic approach was applied in the methodology for this study through sources such as e-journals, peer-reviewed books, google scholar, and other resource articles. The gap this study sought to fill centred on the influence, effectiveness, and barriers associated with the infusion of technology to developing HEIs in learning and teaching for positive educational outcomes. Hence, this paper recommends resolving the obstacles encountered in the infusion of technology in learning and teaching. Suggestions for future research will be centred on the infusion and implementation of information technology in the curriculum of the HEIs.

Abstract: As an anti-colonial rewriting of Jane Eyre, the Wide Sargasso Sea is recognized as Caribbean writer Jean Rhys’s masterpiece. It tells the narrative of the Cosway family, mixed-race descendants of British colonists in Jamaica, West Indies around 1834. Current studies of this book have mostly focused on the white Creole protagonist, Antoinette; however, the black nanny, Christophine, and her obeah are integral to the plot and have received little attention from scholars. In response to the fact that both obeah and Christophine are controversial, this paper examines the history and disputes about Obeah, and gives a suitable answer from two points of view in terms of Christophine’s role and her retreat in the novel. Besides, for Christophine, obeah is a subversive weapon against postcolonial European dominance, whereas for Antoinette, its failure exposes the persistent cultural prejudices of Eurocentric ideology and the fundamental contradictions of colonial culture. By analyzing the symbolic connotations of Obeah and Christophine, this reading could offer readers insights into authentic “Caribbeanness” and the ways in which oppressed people reject the legacy of colonialism, white privilege, and Western hegemony. It also suggests that Rhys’s inclusive views on culture and ethnicity, which reveal her true writing intention and the work’s realistic significance. This paper concludes that her treatment of Christophine is neither authoritarian nor racist but rather a reflection of the author’s appreciation and respect for the black community. Most of all, her contribution to the dismantling of social barriers that are rooted in racial inequalities can be seen most clearly in the all-encompassing and inclusive perspective of a variety of ethnic and cultures that is portrayed in her treatment of Obeah and Christophine.

Abstract: China's aging population is increasingly studied. There are a considerable number of elderly women living alone in rural areas, but less attention has been paid to this group. This study is based on Bourdieu's "field-habitus" theory, the research methods of questionnaire survey and in-depth interview were used to investigate the pension situation of 126 rural elderly women living alone in the triple disadvantaged position of region, age and gender. It is found that their pension situation is the result of the co-variation of the rural field, habit shaping and capital accumulation. The plight of the elderly women living alone in rural areas is mainly due to insufficient economic support, inadequate life care providers and lack of spiritual comfort. The reason lies in the limitation of the rural old-age care field: the limitation of the existing national policy, the heavy household expenditure, the decline of traditional filial piety and Vulnerability of rural elderly women living alone; The drag of the old age habit: the habit of raising children for old age, the habit of "exchange of upbringing and support" between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, and the habit of "valuing the young over the old"; Lack of capital in the pension field: economic capital and cultural capital are ignored, emotional capital is unstable, social capital is lacking and symbolic capital is weakened. So we need to find a way out from improving the rural pension field, changing the habitus that is not conducive to pension and increasing the personal capital of pension.
