Abstract: Demographic data shows the population is ageing, and consequently we are seeing an ageing workforce. Even though the effectiveness of older workers is not in question, older workers are suffering from age-related conditions, diseases and injuries. Measures that prevent health problems throughout the working life are crucial to reduce the amount of sickness and absence in order to avail an early return to work. Established methodologies in which work disability is well defined are the foundation for successful interventions. Research shows that measures to reduce absenteeism and a faster return to work are mostly organizational in nature. Therefore, these are mainly management tasks. Article present an array of interventions that are supported by various studies and recommendations by several European government and non-government organisations that demonstrate efficiency by reducing the amount of absence and facilitate an early return to work. The study verifies perception of suggested interventions between the Slovenian workforces.

Abstract: The rise in communally driven identity politics in India during the past two decades has led to an increasing number of communal flare-ups in the country, State institutions have been found to be complicit in many cases, raising questions on the secular nature of the state. In the two major instances of communal violence in the past two decades - the 1992-1993 Mumbai riots following the Babri Masjid demolition and the 2002 post-Godhra riots in Gujarat - the involvement of the police force has been explicitly noted by Judicial Enquiry Commissions as well as fact-finding reports. As with the police system, the health system too has displayed biases towards minority communities during communal riots. This departure from a neutral role in times of communal riots points to the extent to which communal elements have seeped into even the health machinery. In addition to this active bias and discrimination perpetrated during communal riots, we at CEHAT (Centre for Enquiry into Health and Allied Themes) hypothesize that discriminatory treatment by health facilities operates in times of peace as well, and women belonging to the minority community face such discrimination on a regular basis. Studies show that the experience of discrimination has an impact on people's health and sense of well-being. Discrimination by health care providers at health facilities results not only in poor health outcomes for vulnerable groups but also reduces compliance with treatment and serves as a barrier to accessing medical care. India is signatory to several human rights treaties that explicitly forbid prejudice and bias in the provision of services. By virtue of being a signatory to these human rights treaties, the Indian State is committed to provide health services and end all forms of discrimination in the health facilities. It therefore becomes important to understand the overt and covert functioning of religious based discrimination in the area of health. Health professionals and health systems need to recognize that women face multiple forms of discrimination based on caste, class and community and therefore take additional steps to ensure unbiased delivery of services.

Abstract: This study aimed at identifying the determinants of Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) technology adoption for irrigation and farmers practice in water harvesting against drought in Gursum district, Eastern Hararghe zone. The specific objectives were assessing farmer's perception towards the RWH technology and determining the major factors affecting adoption of RWH technology by smallholder farmers in the study area. The data was collected from both primary and secondary sources. The primary data for this study was collected from 150 farmers through application of appropriate statistical procedures while secondary data was gathered from various sources like zonal and district Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Development and district of water bureau. This study has used multi-stage sampling technique in which both purposive and random sampling techniques were applied to select the required sampling units from the total population under study. Likert Scale was employed to measure the perception of respondents towards RWH technology, and binary logit model was used to analyse the factors that affect RWH technology. Both descriptive and econometric data analysis techniques were applied. Logistic regression estimation revealed that farm experience of household head, education level, family size, labor availability, distance to market, Total Tropical Livestock Unit (TTLU) perception and external support have significantly affected the RWH technology adoption decision of households in study area. The finding of this study indicated that any effort in promoting and adopting of RWH practice should recognize the socio-economic, technique, institutional, physical and psychological characteristics for better adoption of RWH technology. Taking the specific characteristics of farmers into account in introducing and promoting RWH may help policymakers to come up with projects that can easily accepted by farmers.

Abstract: The book of Amos is a special book which brings a special message about God’s justice and judgment upon nations (Israel, Judah, etc.). Nevertheless, for Israelites, Amos had a particular message for God assigned him to preach among them. Two issues would be discussed in this study. They are: (1) What is the meaning of the word to “seek” God in Amos’ understanding? (2) What is the meaning of the word to “live” in Amos’ understanding. Then, the purpose of the study is to find the meaning of the words to “seek” God and to “live” in Amos’ understanding. Amos’ message is to call Israel to repent from her sins and to seek God as the only way to free of God’s punishment and judgment. God would punish Israel because she did not repent from her sins although God sent many prophets to remind her. At that time, Israel involved in social and religious sins. In her religious sins, Amos appointed Bethel, Gilgal, and Beersheba as the main sacred cities among Israel where Israel began wicked practices. Instead of worshiping God, Israel worshiped idols and evoked social sins among Israelites. God really wanted to save Israel from great disasters that would come to her. It can be seen from the way that God offered to Israel and invited her to come to Him, repent and obey His commandments, but Israel never repented from her sins. As the consequence of Israel’s sin, God let her to be captivated by other nations as mentioned by Amos. The key word in Amos 5:4-6 is to “seek God.” For Amos, “to seek God” means seeking good, doing justice and rightness, worshiping God in the right way, and seeking the word of the Lord (Amos 5:14, 15; 8:12). Then, the assurance that God promised to Israel that “you may live” would happen. “Live” means renewed from sins, enjoy God’s mercy as His children, to live more fully, and at the end, to have eternal life in heaven.

Abstract: This article presents the results of an empirical study of decision-making strategies in an uncertain environment as modeled by the Iowa Gambling Task (IGT). The study examines the associations between the Dark Triad traits, tolerance of uncertainty and decision-making effectiveness, measured by the results of strategic choices in a sequential decision-making task with a set goal of obtaining the largest possible profit. The differences in the correlations of the Dark Triad traits with decision-making effectiveness are demonstrated between managers and non-managers. The Dark Triad traits are linked with more effective decision-making strategies only in non-managers. Managers with higher levels of the Dark Triad traits prefer risky and chaotic strategies, especially in the later stages of the decision-making process. Tolerant to uncertainty managers make more effective decisions in the early stages of the prognostic task, these stages are characterized by higher levels of uncertainty and lack of information.

Abstract: Evidence from the natural sciences substantiate a narrative of the cosmos, earth, life, and humanity. Great amounts of matter do not become more complex and there is a highly uneven process of increasing complexity only where there are increasing energy flows. The pace of emergent complexity in pockets increases with the development of self-consciousness and social organization. This account influences the framing of key political issues such as identity, race and ethnicity, gender, globalization, and environmentalism.
