Abstract: It’s has been a long-proved fact that Chinese college English teachers are weak in research. Language teachers’ research engagement is greatly influenced by their conceptions of research. The institutional case study focuses on the college English teachers’ conceptions of research in a Chinese non-key university. The questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews of 6 teachers of typical demographic features show that besides the confirmation of quantitative studies, their academic awareness in qualitative research is growing. Most of them have realized the pedagogical effects of research on teaching and the publicity feature of research, though some of them still assess teachers’ reflective practice as research. In contrast to the senior associate professors’ blurry perception of research, the young lecturers seem to have a rather comprehensive and rigorous definition. The college-English-teacher identity to some extent has hindered their conceptual development of research and the construction of the identity as a researcher. Moreover, the impacts of teachers’ educational background, in-service training experiences, and gender differences should not be ignored. This study implicates that the university administrative should lay due emphasis on raising the practitioners’ conceptions of research before imposing the research requirement to them. Regular in-service professional development programs should be normalized to update teachers’ research conceptions, raise their research awareness, and research literacy, and finally promote their research engagement.

Abstract: Modern society has continuously expanded the scale of colleges and universities, which has put forward new requirements and goals for continuing education. In the next five to ten years, there will be a change in the way colleges and universities approach continuing education, focusing more on lifelong learning rather than academic qualifications. The main issue with current network courses for higher continuing education is that they are not tailored to meet the needs of individual students in terms of individuation, differentiation, and practicality. Additionally, the problem of "teacher-centered" teaching is still prevalent. This paper looks at how higher continuing education can be improved by starting from MOOCs and using methods based on the flipped classroom model to construct teaching modes and resources. we describe how the flipped classroom model can be used to improve higher continuing education. The flipped classroom model has been found to be an effective way of teaching students because it allows students to learn in an interactive and flexible way. By using this model, educators can create a more engaging and interactive learning experience for their students. The combination of these two approaches can improve the quality of higher education and make it more accessible to everyone.

Abstract: The quality of teachers depends on the standard of teacher education. Every teacher training program should include teaching practice. The experiences that pre-service teachers face during supported teaching are what determine the caliber of training they get. The study aimed to identify pre-service teachers' experiences during supported teaching in schools. The study was carried out with pre-service teachers on a Bachelor of Education program at a Ghanaian College of Education. The study used a phenomenology design and a qualitative approach. Convenience sampling was used to select twenty (20) level 100 pre-service teachers comprising 12 males and 8 females. Data was gathered through in-depth, semi-structured interviews. Many of the experiences during supported teaching were related to classroom instruction. Participants also learned about inclusive pedagogy and became acquainted with the larger school community. Student-teachers also formed communities of practice and learned how to work together and share their experiences through peer collaboration. They also gained experience in teachers' professional characteristics and classroom management. Importantly, through supported teaching, they developed a positive perception of teaching as a profession. The study recommends that Colleges of Education should have a systematic mentoring program for mentors and students to use in supported teaching in schools. Mentors should get adequate training before student-teachers begin visiting partner schools.

Abstract: With the continuous improvement of China's comprehensive national strength, more and more foreign students study in Chinese and Chinese culture. Meanwhile, China spreads Chinese culture and makes the world feel more about Chinese culture. This undoubtedly requires the continuous development and expansion of the faculty of international Chinese language teachers. However, the international Chinese language teachers are still facing the current situation of small quantity and poor quality. The professional quality of international Chinese teachers needs to be improved urgently, especially the improvement of cross-cultural teaching ability is the top priority. The International Chinese Teacher Standard sets out clear requirements for teachers' intercultural communication ability, who need to understand the basic principles and strategies of intercultural communication; master the cross-cultural communication skills, can effectively solve the problems encountered in the cross-cultural communication; and can use the target language or English for communication and teaching. In the actual teaching process, international Chinese teachers should not only pay attention to the Chinese ontology knowledge such as Chinese pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary, but also need to understand and solve the possible cross-cultural problems. We should focus on cultivating cross-cultural communication skills. The paper discusses the effective ways for international Chinese teachers to improve the cross-cultural teaching ability from three aspects: cultivating the belief and attitude of cross-cultural education, independent learning and understanding of different cultural knowledge so as to have a good cultural knowledge reserve, improving the classroom practice ability in the process of cross-cultural teaching, and establishing the correct cultural view.
