Abstract: Lipomas are the most common mesenchymal benign tumor of the colon. They are usually asymptomatic but may cause bleeding, obstruction, intussusception, or abdominal pain. A lead-point for adult intussusception exists in 90% of cases and is frequently malignant. The diagnosis can be made by colonoscopy, barium enema examination, and by computed tomography. We have reported two cases of submucosal lipoma of the ascending colon with intestinal obstruction. At laparotomy there was an intussusception of ascending colon, and right colectomy was performed.

Abstract: Bone fluorosis due to high water fluoride contents is endemic in North Africa. Neurological complications as spinal cord compression at dorsal level are rare and unusual. Its outcome depends on early diagnosis and surgical treatment. The authors report a new case of spinal cord compression due to ossification of the yellow vertebral ligament in a patient with previously unknown bone fluorosis.

Abstract: A 45 year old male patient presented with history of painless swelling on the right dorsum of ring finger palm since 4 years. Physical examination revealed irregular firm mass on the volar aspect of the left thumb measuring 13x6 cm, extending from base of the proximal phalynx to thenar crease. Movements of right ring and little finger at MCP joint were restricted. X-ray of the hand showed a dense soft tissue mass with calcification (Fig. 1). There was no periosteal reaction nor any erosionof the cortical bone. Marginal excision of the tumor was done under regional anaesthesia and was sent for histopathological examination.

Abstract: The aim of this study is to evaluate hysterectomy procedures performed for benign conditions in terms of indications and histopatho-logical results. Retrospective analysis of 32 hysterectomy cases, which were performed between January 2011 and Decem-ber 2012, was conducted to review indications and histo-pathological diagnoses. The most frequent indications for hysterectomy were abnormal uterine bleeding myoma uteri and endometrial hyperplasia, respectively. Other clinical indications were adenomyosis and uterine prolapse .The most common histopathological diagnoses reported for hysterectomy specimens were leiomyoma adenomyosis and endometrial hyperplasia respecti-vely. Endometrial polyp was diagnosed in specimens of patients. Endometrial atrophy was reported in patients. Cervical histopathology of hysterectomy materials revealed chronic cervicitis in of the patients. Due to the high coincidence of myoma uteri and endometrial hyperplasia, endometrial sampling should be performed in patients who are being considered for hysterectomy.
