Abstract: The global climate crisis is a real threat to future generations on Earth. The effects of climate change first started showing up during the industrial revolution. Especially in London where water from the River Thames became non-drinkable and the air became impossible to breathe in. This research specifically focuses on the global climate crisis and the measures taken against the accelerating deterioration of the earth. We also look into which factors play a major role in accelerating the process. We researched the current deteriorating climatic conditions that started first from the industrial revolution and the discovery of plastic has only accelerated its effects. The main focus is on how the architecture and building construction industry has been a part of worsening the situation on our planet and in which direction of decelerating the process are we going. It also includes sustainable methods to mitigate the detrimental impacts that it has caused throughout the years since the modern architectural revolution. These measures are discussed in detail for the future of architecture, in particular materials and urban life. Moreover, we can say that passive technology is as important as AI. Research for new, durable materials must continue so that they can be mass-produced without causing serious damage to our environment.

Abstract: Harmonious interaction between human, nature and culture in a settlement present a concept of a cultural landscape. Traditional settlements which have distinctive arrangements according to the customs that apply in their area form cultural landscapes. One of the traditional settlements, namely The Nagari Sijunjung Traditional Settlement, is a representation of the Minangkabau people's settlement in the form of a Nagari. A study will be conducted on the concept of living in The Nagari Sijunjung Traditional Settlement in revealing a cultural landscape as a settlement identity of Minangkabau people. The method used is descriptive qualitative through theoretical studies, field observations and interviews. The findings show that the cultural landscape in The Nagari Sijunjung Traditional Settlement refers to the comprehensiveness of the physical elements in the formation of a Nagari based on the customary provision, namely basosok bajurami, balabuh batapian, barumah batanggo, babalai bamusajik, basawah baladang, and bapendam bakuburan. These physical elements form a cultural landscape, which represent the natural, cultural and spiritual values. While the values are manifested in the land use that are in harmony with nature and the need of space for agricultural activities, residential, worship, housing, graveyards as well as influences on the form and the use of traditional buildings and settlement arrangement. Furthermore, the findings preserve knowledges for future generations in recognizing their history, as well as ecologically it presents a concept of sustainable land use.

Abstract: Wind driven natural ventilation dependents on the microclimate conditions of its environment to thrive. In urban streets, it is influenced by the wind velocity and air temperatures factors. In this study, field experiments were carried out in selected streets of a typical medium rise housing cluster in southeastern Nigeria. The aim of the study was to understand the characteristics of air flow within this housing category, and to better examine the potentials of wind driven ventilation in this class of settlement. Wind speed and directions in the middle of selected streets were measured. Respectively, the undisturbed climatic conditions above the street canyon were recorded as well. The overall conclusion at the end of the study is that inside the streets, the potential of natural ventilation for both the single type and multi-branch type configurations is reduced, while that of continuous street configuration (without intermediate intersections) provided a higher potential for natural wind driven ventilation. This is attributed to the internal interferences and reduction of the wind speeds inside the street canyons. Generally, universal meteorological information gotten from unobstructed areas in cities are used in the design of buildings, thus the significance of this study outlines the importance of obtaining microclimatic information in pre-design stages.

Abstract: Mount Tai Scenic Area is located in Tai'an City, Shandong Province, and is known as the "Five Sacred Mountains". Starting from the two directions of gardening art method and modern courtyard landscape design, this paper probes into the essence of spiritual connotation and construction method, analyzes the existing problems and development trend requirements of modern courtyard landscape design, puts forward the design language enlightenment of Tai'an homestay courtyard in space, artistic conception and element direction by combining the case of Tai'an courtyard, and discusses the limitations and relevance of traditional gardening art method in modern application through the relationship between the two, From the perspective of space experience construction, the specific application methods of integrating courtyard design are proposed. The main purpose of this study is to comb the application strategies for regional courtyard landscape design and provide systematic services for courtyard design. Through research, it is found that traditional gardens and modern garden landscapes are highly similar. Mount Tai gardens, whether in design philosophy or garden building methods, could summarize and form a theoretical system of specific application methods in five aspects, namely, "site selection, cultural thoughts and artistic conception experience, space combination, detail elements, formal beauty, and metaphorical expression", based on the design connotation and created space feelings, a new idea of homestay courtyard landscape design was explored and it has the significance of the times and covers local characteristics and is not restricted to external forms. The results of this study provide valuable information for application strategy of Mount Tai culture in the courtyard design of Tai'an home stay.

Abstract: At the end of the nineteenth century, there was a spate of church cases in China, and missionary activity was again challenged since the dissolution of the prohibition. In this context, the styles of new, rebuilt, and restored churches began to change. Some church designers began to consider the choice of architectural style for their churches, and the call for the indigenization of Christianity grew louder and louder. Therefore, this paper takes case studies of two churches built by the missionary Alphonse Favier, the Xishiku Church in Beijing and the Wanghailou Catholic Church in Tianjin. The two churches are analyzed from the perspectives of layout and space, structure and decoration, and the Chinese and Western elements of the churches are classified. Various factors that contributed to the changes in the style of the two churches, such as the architect's background and social factors, are discussed to analyze the reasons for the change. The church cases' short-term and long-term influence on the choice of Chinese church style in the context of the indigenization of Christianity is analyzed concerning other indigenization concepts in society. The combination of these influences and the participation of church designers from different backgrounds has led to the development of Chinese churches through several different stages of development, from predominantly Chinese styles to a combination of Chinese and Western styles, to completely Western styles, and then to a combination of Chinese and Western styles.
