Abstract: The paper examines the reliability of investment risk estimates based on probabilistic realizations of purpose-designed scenarios. The calculations of the probabilities of scenario realization were based on logical and probabilistic methods. The reliability of risk assessment is understood as the probability of successful completion of a project, fulfillment of all contractual obligations: construction in compliance with the architectural and engineering design and quality requirements, within the contractual period and approved budget. Investment risks were estimated based on seven primary scenarios. The realization of the risks of the main group depended on the realization of the various numbers of risk scenarios of each subgroup in the main group. For instance, the first scenario of the main group consisted in the risk of the impact of design errors, including errors in design and estimate documentation, incomplete working documentation. The second one consisted in the risk of the impact of construction errors that determine the quality of construction and installation work, the possibility of industrial accidents, etc. The risks of each subgroup could be obtained by means of expert estimations or, in case of sufficient statistical data, based on the actual distributions. A mathematical model was developed for the purpose of a computerized solution. The mathematical model also allowed identifying such dependability factors as “weight”, “significance” and “contribution” of each risk in the success of an investment project (reliability structure of investment risk estimation). The analysis of calculation data enabled the identification of the probability of successful project completion (reliability), the risks that are the most important, significant and having the largest contribution to the successful implementation of investment projects. Also, the risks were identified that have the least pronounced effect on the successful implementation of an investment project.

Abstract: This paper analyses factors that influence the adoption of multiple agricultural technology. That is: improved beans variety, biofortified maize variety, grafted fruit trees, and garden vegetable techniques in East Africa. The endogenous switching regression (ESR) framework was modeled where the farmer's choice of alternative technologies was estimated using a multinomial logit selection (MNLS) model accounting for unobserved heterogeneity. There were four major joint multiple technologies that were adopted by households in East Africa for the production of the crop that are; improved beans variety, grafted fruit trees, biofortified maize variety, and use of garden vegetables techniques. The results show that the only factor that affects the probability of adoption of the four joint multiple agricultural technology combinations apart from education level was the regional diffusion of technology in comparison to base category. A household located in the East Africa region increases the chances of adopting the four joint technology innovation by TC1 (21%), TC2 (31%), TC3 (30%), and TC4 (23%). The factors that were found to be positive and significantly influenced the adoption of a combination of three joint technologies were the education level of the household head, the general participation in community meetings, and barazas and diseases that cause problems. Given region there may be a variety of economic and political factors with different relevant agronomic characteristics that might be specific in adopting technologies. The results from the study generally conclude that theirs a potential subsistence-oriented factors that influence the adoption of multiple agricultural technologies through the link of the household’s own production and, therefore recommended that more households be encouraged and influenced to embrace this factors.

Abstract: Public project nonperformance in many developing nations including Ethiopia from different dimensions is obvious these days. For these different economic constraints, different industry related complications and higher rate of population growth mentioned as a cause. Specifically the provision of affordable housing for all classes of the society is very difficult scenario that the government is facing right now. The integrated saving housing development project in different parts of Addis Ababa city faces many different challenges due to many reasons and among those reasons implementation and interpretation of the project delivery method has its own negative impact. Having this background the study sets a general objective to assess overall impacts of the contract delivery method adopted for those mass housing projects in Addis Ababa city. The general objective addressed through three specific objectives aimed at assessing the delivery method’s; overall practice, advantages and disadvantages, its overall effectiveness and to specify the best delivery approach in the study area. Accordingly available literatures related with the topic were reviewed under the second chapter. A descriptive and exploratory research design preferred to address the different research objectives and a mixed research instrumentation and analysis technique implemented. Using those techniques the different findings from the questionnaire, interview and document analysis discussed accordingly. The finding from the analysis showed that Design-Bid-Build approach implemented in all sites housing projects for the different blocks characterized to be very customary, very fragmented and traditional which alters the ideal advantages of the system into disadvantages. Also the finding revealed that the Design-Bid-Build approach causes nonperformance of the project and affected the time constraints followed by risk and cost management of the project. Proper implementation and characterization and/or adaptation of the system will fits best the different policies and strategies by Minister of Urban Development and Housing. Finally significance of the study includes administrative, professional, academic and strategic assistance for the different concerned bodies in the construction industry.

Abstract: The condition of the hilly land is an obstacle in the application of modern tools for processing rice fields in remote villages, so that traditional rice processing tools are still used. "Lampit" is one of the traditional means of processing rice fields, which functions to level the land for planting rice. The operation of "lampit" can increase the work pulse up to 50% above the resting pulse and is included in the category of moderate to heavy workloads. At the end of the operation of "lampit", causing various complaints in the musculoskeletal system, especially on the buttocks and back, which is caused by the small and hardness of the "lampit" rod. To overcome this situation, improvements were made to the “lampit” seating design by adding foam pads and adjusting the pressure lever found on the “lampit” stem. This research is an experimental study using the same subject design, selected 30 research subjects from farmers in Dusun Semaja Antosari Tabanan Bali. The workload is evaluated on the basis of the work pulse measured using the ten pulses method. The pulse was measured before and after the improvement of the "lampit" design. The data compared were the mean values before and after improvement, which were analyzed using paired t test (α = 0.05). The result is that there is a significant decrease in the work rate of 19.35% (p <0.05). Thus, it can be concluded that the improved design of the "lampit" can reduce the workload, therefore it is advisable for farmers to continue using and perfecting the improved "lampit".
