Abstract: Tramadol and codeine are opioids known to have effective analgesic effects and potentials for the possible development of tolerance and addiction. The recent increase in the use and abuse of these substances coupled with research evidence implicating the ability of these opioids to readily access opioid receptors in the central nervous system (CNS) is a source of research concern. This study, therefore, examined the effects of chronic exposure to codeine and tramadol on exploratory learning behaviour. Twenty-four (24) male albino rats weighing between 150-200g and 4-6 weeks old, collected from the University of Ibadan Veterinary animal farm were used for this study. They were divided into 4 experimental groups of codeine, tramadol, combined codeine and tramadol and control groups with 6 rats in each group. They were exposed to 8mg/kg of codeine, 20mg/kg of tramadol, combined 8mg/kg of codeine and 20mg/kg of tramadol, and normal saline for the codeine, tramadol, combined codeine and tramadol and control groups respectively for 28 days. The rats were administered with the drugs every other day and observed after each treatment day for exploratory learning behaviour using the T-maze. randomized block ANOVA showed a significant effect of codeine and tramadol on exploratory learning behaviour among male albino rats, f (3,67) = 19.08, p < 0.001, η2=.08. Male albino rats in the codeine treatment group significantly took more time exploring the maze (Mean = 176.64) than combined group (Mean =168.13), tramadol group (Mean =131.10) and control group (Mean =92.48). The mean differences were significant (p<.001). It was concluded that chronic exposure to tramadol and codeine has implications for exploratory learning and memory deficits.

Abstract: This study was conducted in Dollo Ado District with main objective of identifying the causes of conflict and the characteristic of the indigenous conflict resolution mechanism among Degodia clan of Dollo Ado district. As such, it is aimed to explore the source of conflict within the Degodia clan, identify the means of conflict resolution, its challenge as well as relation with modern institution. The study is designed qualitatively on the basis of primary source of data. The finding of the study shows that the source of conflict among Degodia clan are related to water point access, farmland, and women. Moreover, the study reveals that the Degodia clan traditional conflict resolution method remains more acceptable than the modern state law because it is easier to get the society elders than the government proceedings or it is cheaper, not time consuming with law cost. The finding of the study also shows that there are challenges faced the Degodia traditional conflict resolution strategy, which among others include financial problem and luck of support by the government locally. Finally, in order to minimize the source of conflict within the society, the study recommends that the government should work towards settling the people based on identified borders between the clans, distributing land ownerships for clan or even individuals levels, increasing access for water availability and realizing women equality with men in such as property ownership and marriage rights, to overcome the challenges faced by the traditional conflict resolution institution the government at local level or national levels should support the elders financially and in terms of training.

Abstract: Repetition, as a common phenomenon of behavior, has been made extensive use of to illustrate mental representations. In the world of language, such repetition can be massively observed as well, which is called structural priming, people’s preference to reuse or better process the present structure due to its syntactic similarity to the previously processed or produced structures. Research around structural priming has been explosively conducted in within-language and cross-language contexts since Bock firstly introduced structural priming into language field in 1986. Research on structural priming centralizes on the underlying driven mechanisms of structural priming and its occurrence and function in language production and comprehension. As researchers investigate structural priming deeper, it is necessary to assess the current status of the research on structural priming and make directions for future research. This review is to offer an overview of the recent research on structural priming and recommendations for future investigations. For deeper and more thorough investigation of structural priming, the author points out that researchers can dive into investigations of structural priming in different range of subject, especially in second language learners and probe into social influencing factors of the occurrence and magnitude of structural priming in a more natural experimental paradigm.
