Abstract: This research article examines the impact of integrating interactive technology in physical education classes in Ghanaian higher education context. The study employs a qualitative approach to explore the experiences and perceptions of students and tutors at a College of Education regarding integrating interactive technology. The research investigates interactive technology's benefits, challenges, and effectiveness in physical education classes through in-depth interviews. The findings indicated that while some interactive technologies, such as interactive whiteboards and fitness tracking devices, were being utilized to a limited extent, the overall integration of interactive technology in the physical education classroom was still relatively low. However, the study revealed that both tutors and students acknowledged the potential benefits of using interactive technology, including enhanced student engagement, improved learning outcomes, and the ability to track individual progress. The study also identified several challenges hindering the effective implementation of interactive technology, including limited access to resources, inadequate training, professional development, and institutional barriers. Based on the findings, recommendations were made to promote the integration of interactive technology in physical education classrooms in Ghanaian colleges of education. These recommendations included increased investment in infrastructure and technology resources, providing comprehensive training for instructors, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, and considering cultural and gender-related factors in technology selection and implementation. The study contributes to the existing body of knowledge by shedding light on the current state of interactive technology integration in the physical education classroom in Ghana.

Abstract: Technology has become an increasingly essential component of education in recent years, and many nations have embraced pedagogical techniques that incorporate technology in a variety of educational contexts. However, instructors in Uganda have shown reluctance to accept such practices, posing a danger to their relevance in technology-oriented classrooms. We used the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model to evaluate the acceptance and use of techno-pedagogy in a competency-based teaching and learning environment to examine the variables that impact Ugandan teachers' acceptance and use of techno-pedagogy. We also utilized the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) paradigm to create the techno-pedagogical competence construct, which was used to assess teachers' grasp of how to successfully incorporate technology into their teaching practice. We investigated five hypotheses about these determinants and gathered data from 245 instructors who were putting the redesigned lower secondary curriculum into practice. To evaluate the data and investigate the correlations between the variables, structural equation modelling was utilized. Our results imply that Behavioral Intention is highly influenced by Performance Expectancy and Facilitating Conditions, which in turn is a key contributor to the use of technology for teaching. Effort Expectancy and Social impact, on the other hand, had no substantial impact on Behavioral Intention. These findings emphasize the necessity of providing enough technical tools, training, and support to teachers to improve the acceptance and application of techno-pedagogy in Ugandan classrooms. Our work adds to the literature on techno-pedagogy acceptability and has substantial policy and practice implications in Uganda and in comparable situations.

Abstract: Reading is considered as an important learning tool which comprised of multiple skills. Efficient reading by university students plays a vital role in shaping our society's future. Reading habits of University students is determined by several factors including age, gender, field of study and life style. Hence, this study was conducted to explore the effect of gender differences in reading habits of university undergraduates in Sri Lanka by obtaining data using questionnaires from 192 male and 474 female students of six universities. The results revealed that enjoying reading, reading preferences, how often they are reading and reading frequency significantly varied between the two genders (p<0.05). Females enjoyed reading and spent more time than their male counterparts. Most female students preferred novels (28.5%), while male respondents (7.5%) selected books to read. The majority of the female students responded that preparation for exams (39.6%) was the main barrier against reading, while male students selected social networks (16.5%). In terms of frequency, the majority of the girls (19.5%) read once a week, while 9.3% of boys read less frequently, whereas 0.9% of them never read. Based on this study, female are better in reading and showed positive attitude towards it than male students in Sri Lankan universities. Thereby, it is recommended to the universities in Sri Lanka to provide necessary guidance and motivation in developing reading skills, especially among male students.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of technological instructional methods employed by teachers in improvement of pre-primary children’s understanding of curriculum content. Teaching through technology approaches is among the new methods emphasized in Tanzania education following its adoption of competence-based curriculum in 2005. In order to achieve the objectives of competence-based education which is to obtain quality education and produce comprehensive competent students and graduates, the issue of students’ understanding of curriculum content is placed at forefront. Competence development and learning to understanding are the desired criterion for educational quality in all levels in schools. The study was conducted in two different regions in Tanzania; Dar es Salaam and Coastal region specifically, Kinondoni and Bagamoyo districts respectively. The study followed a mixed method approach and adopted a descriptive survey and quasi-experimental research design. The targeted population comprised of 8 pre-primary school teachers and 80 pre-primary school children. Data analysis involved thematic for qualitative and descriptive statistics for quantitative. Direct observation, documentary review and interview to teachers’ were data collection methods. Findings indicated that teacher-made instructional materials when used through videotaped based approach improves students’ understanding of curriculum content more easily than teaching without videotaped. Also, improve performances more quickly than when use instructional materials alone. Quasi-experimental results revealed that the teaching of curriculum content in the areas such as pronunciation of words, tracing of numbers, remembering of concepts, imitating of words correctly, writing, drawing, modeling and painting improved faster when teacher’s instructions accompanied with video tapes of related activities than when given alone. Averagely, the performance range from 50% to 98% showed great improvement and within short period in a class used videotape based approach than the one without video tapes. The study conclude that instruction-based video tapes is a good teaching method for pre-primary children learning than other methods. Children learn more by watching and observing coloured pictures of real world materials. It is therefore recommended that technological instructional materials should be employed by all teachers in pre-primary classes for them to understand the curriculum content taught by their teachers.

Abstract: Objectives: To evaluate the anxiety trait of nursing students and relate to the psychosomatic profile; To analyze anxiety trait, psychosomatic profile and relate to the risk of depression; Correlate anxiety trait, and psychosomatic profile of graduate students with sociodemographic and economic characteristics. Method: Correlational, quantitative, cross-sectional study, with the response variables the anxiety trait and the psychosomatic signs and symptoms of the students, and as predictors variables, the sociodemographic and economic characteristics of the students. Descriptive analysis (mean, standard deviation and median) and comparative analysis were performed using statistical tests. Results: The study sample consisted of 127 participants with a mean age of 25.9 years (standard deviation of 8.6); most were female 120 (94.5%) and lived in São Paulo 90 (70.9%). The mean Stai score was 51.29 (standard deviation of 11.27), with minimum and maximum values of 21 and 75, respectively. The mean Beck score was 14.26 (standard deviation of 9.03), the minimum and maximum values were 0 to 44. The median value was 12 [1st quartile: 8; 3rd quartile: 18]. The associations between the Stai and Beck scores revealed an increasing linear behavior, that is, as the Stai score increases, the Beck score increases. There is an association between age and Stai score: the highest means were observed in the youngest stratum of the sample. Scores were also significantly higher in females for the Beck score - the score was almost twice the male score. The highest scores were anxiety for those who performed some kind of work. Conclusion: There are significant correlations of the Stai anxiety trait and psychosomatic profile of the students with Beck anxiety inventory. There was a significant association between age, online learning, COVID-19 pandemic and current work for the Stai score. There is a significant association for the Beck score among females, which increases the risk of depression. There was a significant association between the Stai and Beck scores: as the Stai score increases, the Beck score increases. A positive and strong correlation was found between the Stai and Beck scores, in which the higher the Stai anxiety trait, the greater the risk of Beck depression.

Abstract: This study aimed at exploring the Demands for Sign Language Interpreters (SLI) at University of Education, Winneba. This study employed an Explanatory Sequential Mixed Methods Design to answer the research questions. The researcher first conducted quantitative research, analyzed the results and then built on the results to explain them in more detail with qualitative responses. Out of a target population of 14 respondents, eight (8) were purposively sampled for this study due to the practical skills they had acquired in Sign language, including assistance given to the deaf at the University. Core issues include environmental, interpersonal, paralinguistic, and intrapersonal demands. The two main instruments used to gather data were a 24-item questionnaire with a four-point Likert scale and interview guide. Descriptive statistics involving simple percentages, mean, standard deviations and thematic approach were computed and used for the analysis. The findings indicated that Sign Language Interpreters (SLI) expressed strong concerns about the obstructions they encountered during an interpreting assignment, such as the speaker's accent, power dynamics and authority, the use of technical vocabulary and interpreting for long hours without rest. Therefore, it is recommended that there is a need to encourage SLI to go for further studies in the area of interpreting. Besides, the University can employ and retain experienced Sign Language Interpreters to work as interpreters for deaf students.
