Abstract: Community based seed multiplication approaches have been used by agricultural research and development actors to improve farmers’ access to quality seed in many developing countries like Ethiopia. Recently it has gained popularity as an alternative to the formal seed sector of disseminating new crop varieties developed by the research system. Almost every smallholder farmer in the country uses the recycled seeds from their farms for the next planting season. Seed producer cooperatives produce quality seed of diversified crops and varieties and directly sell to customers locally and beyond. Community based seed multiplication approach was introduced and evaluated at national level particularly in Oromia regional state of Ethiopia from 2015/16-2017/18 cropping season and by the implementing center of Holetta agricultural research center from 2015/16 to 2019/20 cropping season. Holetta Agricultural Research Center implemented on five seed producer cooperatives. A total of 830 quintals of basic seed of bread wheat, faba bean, chickpea, and malt barley and teff technologies were distributed through EIAR and by the support of USAID_ICARDA faba bean-malt barley project. Overall, in these specific crop technologies a total of 1524 farmers out of which 1192 male and 332 female farmers were directly benefited and more than 680 hectares of land was covered. Over the last five years about 11300.3 quintals of pure seed was produced through the CBSM scheme. Moreover, 80% of the seed produced was inspected and certified by the seed regulatory laboratory and farmers sale their produced seed with 15% premium price. Lastly, to improve the technical skills of zonal and district level agricultural experts and cooperative leaders, training of trainers was provided on seed production and management technics. Similarly, Various theoretical and practical training on seed production and management practices also given to members of CBSP farmers and kebele development agents. Therefore, these kinds of measures effectively address the severe seed deficit in the community and must continue to be implemented periodically in the future.

Abstract: Biometric Attendance System Using Face Recognition initiative offers a game-changing answer to the age-old problem of tracking attendance. This innovative solution uses face recognition technology to automate attendance management, providing accuracy, efficiency, and security. The project, which was created on the Android platform, makes use of the capabilities of Kotlin as the core programming language. TensorFlow, a strong machine learning framework, enhances the system's functionality by assisting in real-time face detection and recognition. Android Studio, a versatile IDE designed for Android app development, was the development environment of choice. A careful data collection strategy that included observation and interviews yielded useful insights into the limits of traditional manual attendance systems. The algorithm performs facial feature extraction, comparison, and matching against the stored biometric data to determine the identity of the individual. To ensure data privacy and security, the system employed advanced encryption techniques to protect the biometric data stored in the database. Additionally, measures are in place to prevent unauthorized access to the system and its sensitive information. The Biometric Attendance System offers several advantages over traditional attendance methods. It eliminates the need for manual recording and reduces the potential for errors or fraudulent practices, resulting in more accurate attendance records. The system provides real-time attendance updates to teachers and administrators, enabling timely intervention for absentees. The automation of attendance processes also saves valuable time.

Abstract: Within the context of fostering age-friendly environments, the application of environmental design to enhance the quality of life for elderly individuals has emerged as an important component in the fields of healthy aging and well-being. In order to better guide sustainable health and age-friendly design, it is necessary to understand the development of environmental design for aging in community from a comprehensive perspective. This paper focuses on the research of hot issues and design elements for elder people in residential communities by studying English, Chinese and Italian literature in the past 30 years. The systematic review method is used to sort out the research in English, Chinese and Italian databases, and the keywords are analysed by Citespace software. This analytical process facilitated the identification of clusters and high-frequency words, affording a nuanced comprehension of commonalities and distinctions across research on aging in various senior living environments. From this extensive study of literature, 36 papers have been meticulously selected for in-depth examination. Results demonstrated the current mostly concerned design elements are summarized from five aspects: accessibility, space, aging design, social contact needs and neighbourhood atmosphere. The conclusions about review of hot issues and trends in environmental design in aging in community can contribute to thinking of future direction of healthy aging and sustainable well-being.
