Abstract: The objective of this paper is to scrutinize the role of Zera Yaekob’s philosophy of the current existing European enlightenment period/age of reason which was claimed to be the philosophy of Immanuel Kant. Zera Yaekob’s philosophy is systematically ignored and neglected by Euro-philosophers because of various reasons. Underscoring the following research questions is pertinent to resolve such neglecting: Is Zera Yaekob’s philosophy really hollow of the European enlightenment? Why Euro-philosophers systematically ignored his philosophy, nevertheless, his philosophical outlook still working there? To harangue these questions, therefore, the researcher employed philosophical methods of qualitative/analysis and phenomenology. Zera Yaekob’s rationalistic philosophy seems to, like the ocean, have diverse echelons. The usual daily activities have been documented by philosophical philosophers, starting from his mouthpiece Welde Hewot till now according to a Canadian philosopher Claude Sumner. Now a day, several Neo-Zera Yaekobian’s are emerging on the philosophical scene of metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, gender and the like. The streams—the sincere pillar of the ocean that mixes water across the world and it embodies the most philosophical echelons of enlightenment. This is why Zera Yaekob’s philosophy is considered as a premium spring/notebook of western enlightenment philosophy. The researcher argues that the Enlightenment culminated their climax with Zera Yacob of Abyssinia in Africa than Immanuel Kant in Europe. Moreover, the paper also takes into account how his philosophical scene governs contemporary African philosophy. Above all, surprisingly but terribly also, they (European) are there with the light of enlightenment because we (Africans) are here with the twilight of counter-enlightenment.

Abstract: Islam is the religion of the majority of Arab citizens in Israel. According to a report issued by Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics, there are 1.2 million Muslims in Israel, comprising about 80% of the Arab population in the country. Over the past four decades, Islam has become an important factor in the political and socio-cultural identity of the Arab minority; the number of Muslims in Israel who define their identity first and foremost in relation to their religious affiliation has steadily increased. This article studies the authority, ideologies and legal methods and mechanisms used by muftis practicing iftaʾ in the State of Israel when interpreting Islam for the resident Muslim minority. Key questions are: Who serve as the primary religious authorities for Muslims in Israel? Does a unique ‘Israeli-Islam’ exist? The present research found that the evolving Islamic law of minorities in Israel is much less developed than it is in the West; as such, one cannot yet identify Islam in Israel as ‘Israeli-Islam,’ as having its own distinct nature (as in the case of ‘Euro-Islam’). To date, there seems to be no single locus of Islamic religious authority in Israel; multiple groups claim to speak on Islam’s behalf. As such, there is religio-political fragmentation amid the Muslim community in Israel, each group seeking to create its own religious authority: CIS of the al-Qasemi Sufi Order; ICIF of NIM and, finally, the ad-hoc SIM iftaʾ committees. To date, none of these iftaʾ agencies in Israel has been able to formulate, authorize and apply a code of Islamic minority law in Israel, and they continue to rely heavily on foreign Islamic religious authorities. Israeli Muslims continue to maintain strong ties with the regional socio-cultural and religious space and with their peers in the Muslim-Arab world. Israeli iftaʾ agencies tend to adopt and adapt work methods used by foreign, regional Islamic religious authorities and to accept, as is, or adapt many of their opinions/decisions.

Abstract: This paper examines the relationship between international human rights regimes and the pursuit of United Sates national interests in the 21st century. Archival research or literature survey, content analysis, and the realist theory of international human rights were adopted for the inquiry. The core objectives of the paper were to assess US human rights posture; find out if US international defence of human rights and interventions is without bias; and to determine if there is a positive relationship between US pursuit of national interest and US human rights policy. The results of analysis show that US has both internal and external poor human rights posture; and that lack of neutrality on US international campaign. The results further reveal that there is no generally accepted principles of human rights and its institutions; and although the international human rights regime lacks jurisdiction over the US, it has consistently being used to advance US national interests in the international system. Among others, the paper recommends an international conference of sovereignties to harmonise the principles and institutions of international human rights, and for the regime to have jurisdiction over all sovereignties.

Abstract: This paper is based on the results of the cross-sectional experiment that was implemented in the school year 2015/2016, within the female students of the third year of undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education (FSPE), University of Nis. The study was for the first time realized in this school year, during the mandatory curriculum in Rhythmic gymnastics (6th semester of education, weekly classes 3+3, and 45+45, per semester). Assessment of body composition is realized along with the Pedagogical practice (as pre-exam study requirements). The sample includes 30 PE female students, within the 3rd year of study following the Bologna Declaration. Based on the body composition assessment, the student’s results are displayed in the form of histograms, for each measured variable. Comparative analysis of results was used for the consideration of the differences among examined students within the group, considering the calculated Mean values and recorded MIN and MAX results, as well as student profile model score. The results were evaluated based on the system for the assessment of body composition (OMRON BF511) and the interpretation of results for the following variables: body fat percentage, visceral fat, percentage of body muscles, body mass index (MBI), and the basal metabolic rate. The results obtained show the expected intra-group differences in body composition parameters, which are not inherited conditionally, for all of the selected body variables (except BMI). But, although the most of the values are recommended, those low percentages of high body fat (BF), and body mass index (BMI), as well as relative skeletal muscle mass values (M%), indicate the heterogeneity of the student population, their sports orientation, and their level of physical activity.
