Abstract: In this work, tools such as SolidWorks CAD, SolidWorks Simulation was used in the course of the design of a bottled water handle. This approach provided a less tedious process to its manual counterpart. Every progression of design was assessed and interpreted in detail in this paper. The primary goal of increasing the torsional rigidity and stiffness to be above 200 x 10 3 N-m/deg. was achieved from our computational Analysis; also, achieving a minimal weight of 0.0019kg for the test handle sample against 0.00206kg of the control handle sample obtained from India, never neglecting its ease to manufacture and ease of access. It is expected that the work will allow bottled water companies in Nigeria, who are notusing handles at the moment, to make appropriate decision on whether to seek the introduction of handles. It should also encourage bottled water companies to look inward and liaise with local plastic industries as regards to production of bottled water handles locally.

Abstract: This paper considers a tool switching problem (ToSP) in flexible manufacturing systems (FMSs). Indeed, a new version of the ToSP that may be faced in practice is proposed. In this paper, a tool life is considered for each tool and a new formulation of the ToSP is presented, however, because of the complexity of such an NP-hard problem, the exact method can’t be used to solve large-sized problems. Therefore, a well-known meta-heuristic method, genetic algorithm (GA), is proposed to solve the problem. Furthermore, the computational results obtained by the proposed GA and the B&B methods are compared by performing on several non-large dimension instances. Finally, it is shown that the GA results are promising.

Abstract: Introduction: The outbreak of musculoskeletal disorders is a widespread phenomenon among human, and it usually occurs in the back, lumbar, neck, and upper limbs of human. In this study, we have tried to investigate the factors affecting the lumbar disorders in a factory of auto parts production and assembly. In terms of aim, the present study is functional. To gather data, a Nordic questionnaire has been used. This questionnaire was distributed by census method among Ghareh Sabz factory personnel. The total number of the distributed questionnaires was 160. Of these, 148 complete questionnaires were received. 12 questionnaires were incomplete and rejected. In order to investigate the research assumptions, statistical tests were exploited by the use of the software SPSS. Related works: According to the results, smoking has a positive and meaningful relation with backache. Exercise and backache have a negative and meaningful relationship together. There is a positive and meaningful relationship between work experience and backache and between age and backache. But there was not found any meaningful relationship between height and backache and between weight and backache.

Abstract: Studies are made on the wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) process performance parameters such as material removal rate, kerf and surface roughness of Incoloy®Alloy800 following the Taguchi’s design of experiments. ANOVA is performed to trace the statistically significance of input parameter (viz. gap voltage, pulse-on-time, pulse-off-time and wire feed) on the WEDM process parameters. A simple multi-objective optimization approach is suggested for specifying a set of optimum input parameters to achieve maximum material removal rate, and minimum surface finish and kerf width.

ANOVA is performed to trace the statistically significance of input parameter (viz. voltage, pulse-on-time, pulse-off-time and wire feed) on the output response parameters. A multi-objective optimization method is adopted here to trace the optimum WEDM process parameters for achieving sufficiently high material removal rate, and low surface finish as well as the kerf width.
