A: Yes. If none of the authors are currently members, the team may designate one author to receive a membership upon payment of the full APC. For solo authors, the membership is automatically granted to you.
A: No. Membership is tied to the individual designated by the author group. Once registered, it cannot be transferred to third parties outside of the original author list.
A: A full waiver applies only if all co-authors are members AND each has not utilized a free publication credit within the last 12 months. If any co-author is a non-member or has used their credit recently, the article will be subject to a fee.
A: It is a rolling 12-month period starting from the publication date of your last waived (free) article. For example, if you published for free on March 1, 2025, you are eligible for another waiver starting March 1, 2026. If you have never published for free, you are immediately eligible provided other conditions are met.
A: Per Rule 4, the article will qualify for a 50% discount. You will not be charged the full rate; the status simply shifts from a full waiver to a half-price APC.
A: New memberships are granted under Rule 1 (Full APC) and Rule 2 (Mixed Authorship). Please refer to the specific terms of Rule 4 to confirm if member-only discounted articles trigger additional memberships.
A: This is decided entirely by internal consensus among the author team. The platform does not intervene; we recommend authors agree on the recipient prior to submission to avoid disputes.
A: Yes. The 50% discount applies to the total APC for the article. How the remaining costs are split among the co-authors is at the discretion of the research team.
A: No. It is based on a rolling 12-month cycle from your last free publication date. See Q4 for details.
A: Your 12-month "timer" only resets if the article was published under a Full Waiver (Rule 3). Articles published at a standard or discounted rate do not affect your waiver eligibility.
A: Yes. Under Rule 2, the new membership can be assigned to any co-author, including current non-members, upon internal agreement.
A: Based on current policy, membership status does not expire. Only the eligibility for a full waiver is subject to the 12-month activity rule.
A: Our system automatically tracks the publication history and membership status of all authors. Eligibility is determined at the time of submission; no manual declaration is required.
A: Formal appeal mechanisms are currently under review. Please contact our editorial office directly for any disputes regarding billing or eligibility.
