Abstract

The study was carried out at Ganjam district, Odisha, from April to October 2017. An endeavour has been made to in-vestigate the effect of OMFED feed to cross breed cows (Bos taurus) of organised and unorganised dairy farms in Ganjam District of Odisha in 2017. Primary data has been collected from 50 cross-breed cows (Bos taurus) from Govind Nagar, Lochapoda, Panchama, Suramani, and TATA colony village under the block of Rangeilunda, Ku-kudakhandi, Chatrapur, and Soroda, respectively, of Ganjam District. Out of 50 cows, 25 cows were selected as the control group for this study, depending upon the body weight (300 kg to 350 kg) and an average age group (3-6 years). Another 25 cows were selected from Alakash dairy farm as the treated group, depending upon the body weight (300 kg to 350 kg) and an average age group (3-6 years). The result shows that crossbred cattle found high milk yield in the treated group compared to the control group. Relating to milk yield, the treated group showed a considerable variation attributed to the type of care, breed and feed. Statistical analysis showed a significant increase in milk volume, fat and SNF percentage in the treated group as compared to the control group.
